Training classes for occupation-specific career skill certifications
Goodwill provides job skill training classes to assist individuals in acquiring the necessary credentials for employment and career advancement in industry-specific occupations. Explore your area of interest below. Program training is offered at no cost to participants.
Forklift Operator Training
Alabama and Florida
Forklift Operator Certification classes consist of a multi-day training program with both classroom instruction and hands-on experience. Topics include: lift truck design and operating principles; pre-shift safety inspection and preventive maintenance; worksite inspections; picking up and delivering a load; applying truck operator safety skills; and OSHA regulations. Participants must be 19 in Alabama or 18 in Florida, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to attend all classes.
Certified Logistics Training
Alabama and Florida
CLT is a nationally-accredited, industry-led program that prepares participants for front-line material handling and supply chain logistics jobs in fulfillment centers, warehouses, distribution centers, and factories. Logistics Technician Certification classes consist of two optional training courses which combine interactive, online training with instructor-led material. Goodwill Gulf Coast offers both Foundation-Level Certified Logistics Associate and Mid-Level Certified Logistics Technician training.
Healthcare (CNA) Training
Florida
Participants can launch their career in healthcare by earning their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. This comprehensive course includes computer-based training and written exam preparation; hands-on training and practical exam preparation; and paid training opportunities thanks to our community partners (TLC Caregivers, Accelerating Futures, Career Campus, and Addus Homecare). CNA graduates can seek gainful employment in entry-level positions in the healthcare industry and continue to advance their nursing education and certifications along the way.
Hospitality/Tourism Training
Alabama and Florida
Earn several types of certifications related to the hospitality/tourism industry. For guest services, participants can engage in Front Desk Representative online training and earn their certification through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). Restaurant servers also can engage in online training and earn certification through AHLEI. For food handlers, online training and certification is offered through the National Restaurant Association (NRA).
Information Technology (IT) Certifications
Alabama and Florida
This program offers options for both beginners and advanced learners, either as self-paced classroom training or remote virtual learning. Participants can master computer skills such as navigating operating systems and software including Microsoft Office Suite. Participants also can earn one of Google’s nationally recognized certificates such as the Google IT Support Certificate, Google Project Management Certificate, Google Career Certificate, or the Google Data Analytics Certificate. Google’s employment services team will even help you find a job after you get certified.

Goodwill Gulf Coast offers additional courses including Financial Literacy, Google G-Suite, Accounting Fundamentals, Workplace Communication, and Work Readiness Workshops (all with certifications from Career Campus). In addition, through Coursera’s online library of courses, Goodwill Gulf Coast offers access to thousands of additional training course options including IBM Product Manager, Meta Social Media Marketer, and Meta Marketing Analyst.
