Work Training Center & AbilityOne

Alabama

Work Training Center

This program provides hands-on experience and classroom instruction to assess suitability for employment and establish appropriate work behaviors for individuals with disabilities referred by the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services. Assessments are developed based upon work activities and classroom participation, then recommendations are provided as to whether the participant is ready for competitive employment, supported employment, or needs additional training. Individuals with disabilities perform light packaging and assembly work, completing projects in partnership with local companies.

AbilityOne

Through GWI Services, Inc. (Goodwill Industries’ partner corporation), Goodwill Gulf Coast provides janitorial services under two AbilityOne contracts in Mobile County (for the Federal Building, Federal Courthouse and U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Training Facility). Together, these federal service contracts employ individuals with significant disabilities.
